Simon Belair hails from Montreal, PQ and is becoming one of the province's foremost electronic artists. "Cheers to the Seasons," his first proper CD, is dually fragile and delicate, while still remaining organic and invigorating. Belair uses a variety of sources (field recordings, old vinyl, clarinet, & keyboard), bending and shaping them into an aural romp through the feeling of an entire year. Condensed into just 41 minutes, the pace is never hurried, the music never frenzied in the wrong places, but a perfect balance of snow falling on fir trees and the magnanimous blooms of summer.

Tones and drones mingle with broken piano dissonance and glitched-out vinyl samples. Belair's ability to take so much and carve into a shiny, perfect whole is impressive. Limited to 500 copies and housed in a tri-fold card sleeves, there's no better way to kick off the magick of spring.

This is natacha's co-head-honcho's solo effort combining  recordings made over the span of 2 years. Field recordings, old vinyl records exotica, electronic doodles, clarinet and keys. A heady, hazy concoction.
