whenever new keijo recordings show up in our po box, it puts a huge smile on my face. few artists are as consistently brilliant and moving as this finnish king. however, "by the mountain & sea" is nothing like previous outings. on this new release we find keijo exploring one of the things he truly loves: old american folk songs. "by the mountain & sea" features 10 traditional folk songs such as "hallelujah, i'm a bum," "pretty boy floyd," and "do re mi," by the likes of woody guthrie, henry mcclintock, etc performed with his distinct finnish drawl. with bits of throat singing added, it is authentically keijo's. this is a magical look at another side of his ever-evolving library. simply wonderful. 100 copies
