Dark, distorted organ drone from Garek Druss of Tecumseh and Dull Knife. Each side of the tape is a 16-minute distorted funeral drone, and they both get more corroded and blackened as they go on, for a sort of Tim Hecker vibe. Side A is “Composition ii” and side B is “Composition iii”. They both sound like variations on the same theme, but “ii” is the denser, more challenging one, while “iii” features guitar and vocals in the mix and is quieter, and not quite as corroded, but still intense.
This one’s really crushing me, I don’t usually expect drone recordings to be this heavy and soul-consuming. But yet it’s not noisy, or anything close to doom or black metal. It’s just extremely intense and beautiful and life-affirming.
