Times Arrow is now streaming at Pitchfork.
Contrary to a certain reviewers opinion, Prurient’s new, slightly less cacophonous EP “Times Arrow” is NOT inspired by the black dahlia. Instead, according to the man himself it references a book he read on black holes and entropy. Crazy stuff. Here’s a little bit more about it from an interview on TMT.
“if we didn’t have the process of decay in our brains…then we would not be able to perceive time in a linear fashion. It gave an example that we would see a deck of cards reshuffling themselves. We would see coffee being poured back into a pot, and we would see smoke reversing back into the tip of a lit cigarette.”
Times Arrow is now available to buy on LP and cassette format from Hydra Head. Its a pretty interesting mix of sounds, ranging from more melodic, synth driven industrial to earsplitting feedback and vehement vocals.
