Magic Beach is the psychical projection of two minds, Francesco Gallo and Philippe Lambert. In my opinion, they couldn’t be more adequately named. There’s a definite tropical context in which these mind-escapes are placed. But the rest is, well, sheer apparition. The two sidelong tracks are psychedelically phantasmic. It’s as though you were able to experience the spirits of the islands, where each lapping wave, cool breeze, and sway of the palm trees was actually a spirit in motion. Rustling, sweeping, restless ethereal entities inhabiting an equatorial destination surrounded by the sea. Combos of echo washes, guitar blurs, synthtasias, and mild primal percussions. A harmless eeriness that squeezes sand between your toes, tans you to the point of peeling, and burns your eyes with salty ocean spray. Definitely gets me in the mood for a cruise or an island getaway in the midst of this winter season. 80 pro dubbed tapes.
