Jess Bryant – “Cutting” (Stream)

Red Deer Club will release the first album from Jess Bryant on July 2nd. Titled Silvern, it features nine tracks of drifting, spectral folk and it’s quite beautiful. The press release mentions influences like David Lynch, Paul Auster, Moondog, Steve Reich and Haruki Murakami and Bryant has already picked up notable attention from the likes of My Brightest Diamond, whose Shara Worden has called her ‘a rare and beautiful singer’. Can’t argue with that.

Although ‘Cutting’ is perhaps not the most representative track from Silvern, which grows ever more deep and haunting as it progresses, there’s something timeless in Bryant’s choir-like vocals that can send shivers down your spine as they soar above ye olde festivities.
