Nice Up International (the label run by No UFOs mastermind, Konrad Jandavs) returns after a bit of a respite with two excellent new tapes that are well worth your time. Both tapes are limited (but also available digitally for those of you that prefer that over tapes) and ready to order now. I will say, having heard both, that each tape is fantastic. Jandavs’ latest No UFOs effort here is a different beast than his past efforts, compiled mainly using his AKAI MPC. I kind of hope it’s a sign of things to come and would love to hear how the styles explored on this tape could be worked into what I normally expect from No UFOs.
The other tape is the first outpouring from Vancouver’s Cloudface and is a killer set of vintage electronics twisted up and plastered in a modern wrapper. It’s an impressive debut, to say the least, and I can only hope more is in the pipeline.
