Hobo Cubes, “Molecular Geometry” tape

July 24, 2012
By Travis Bird

A humble missive from the Hobo Cubes camp, this tape compiles two live recordings of Montreal cosmic improvisation. Heavily indebted to errant radio wave sounds, sonic space debris, and the use of analog echo, Francesco de Gallo at first keeps it minimal and scattered. The second side lands on Earth, as it were, with heavy, melancholic leads over the warbling base. Captures consistent emotion as little improvisation does – vivid, dystopian vision of space and man’s awareness of insignificance.
