Can’t find out too much about German Army, but this artist has a very diverse palette of dark ambient textures on this Kill Shaman release. “Saxon Skull” favors hypnotic electro-drums with roiling synths underneath, and mumbled speaking. “Kingston BraSS” is another standout, a languishing beat with dissonant music and an engagingly personal (but unintelligible) voice, heavily delayed. On “Push Pull,” things are more darkwave, with warm synth pads hovering over the beat. In the second half, Turkish Bath becomes more of a grab bag of dark collage textures, relying on samples instead of human presence. Interesting enough.
