This Station of Life, “Plastic Fire” tape

Avant black metal in all its gloriousness.  This Station in Life’s bread and butter is long pregnant moments of crushing guitar that also give in to hasty punk riffs.  The amps always seem to talk back with whiny feedback.  The vocals remind me a bit of Horseback as they choke and sputter on the lyrical poetry.  This is more than just a metal experience though.  This guy has a way of sculpting something larger than life with each track.  It sounds fuller than what you would expect from the few instruments utilized.

I get the impression that This Station of Life isn’t rough around the edges just to be evil or angry. I feel like this is a true artistic expression of the confusion, frustration, and desperation that one faces in life.  It can range from anything like getting a traffic ticket for racing to your elderly parent’s aid when you got the call from the hospital to working two jobs and for years and years and still no promotion and still nothing to show for it financially.  These are the stories of humanity as we each find ourselves in our “station of life.”  This is the soundtrack to our failed past, our hopeless present, and a bleak future.
