I never know which part to be more excited about in these situations… the fact that I’m hearing a killer new tune from Roger Tellier-Craig’s Le Révélateur project or the fact that it’s accompanied by another stunning video from multimedia artist Sabrina Ratté. I guess it doesn’t matter, since the two often come hand-in-hand, but with “Date Daze” (a track off his upcoming tape from NNA), I feel like I don’t need my morning coffee, that this audio/visual combination is the perfect caffeine injection. Tellier-Craig’s compositions are always rich and evocative, tracing the neural pathways in your brain and popping all your synapses at once. On some level, especially the video aspect, “Data Daze” is like watching some kind of bizarre, futuristic Saturday morning cartoons in that there’s this fantastic playful quality to it, but it feels more advanced and evolved in ways we can’t quite comprehend yet. I realize that probably doesn’t make a lot of sense to anyone but me, but I also don’t care – I just know that I fucking love this.
