Excellent video/trailer for Common Eider, King Eider’s upcoming book/CD/DVD release, Sense of Place. Definitely not one to be missed!
Two years in the making, Common EIder King EIder return with “Sense of Place”- a book/DVD/CD release documenting the building of a small cabin in Western Alaska by Common Eider. The book contains 60 pages depicting the stark harsh beauty of Alaska in deep winter, along with images of the cabin itself. The DVD compliments the book and gives further insight into the building of the cabin and quickly conveys the weight of the landscape. The books are all professionally bound. DVD and CD come packages in a large fold out poster of one of the prints in the book.
The soundtrack is recorded in double stereo. In order to fully experience the full composition and sonic space intended, the CD that comes in this release must be played on a second device while watching the DVD…. 1/2 of the soundtrack is on the DVD and the other 1/2 is on the CD.
The piece itself is a 4 part vocal piece with organ. Beautiful, haunting, stark and relentless, rising to a peak of muttered chants and whispers, begging for release.
Limited edition of only 250. This will not be repressed. Also come with a black fabric patch bearing the band’s sigil.
