Derek Rogers recorded this concert at the LYR-I-CISM Festival in Austin, in April of last year. It starts out unassumingly enough with what sounds like some bowed guitar, which is overlaid with some delicate, delay-heavy strumming. After 6 minutes, though, some otherworldly sounds start to take shape, and a particularly exciting electric one swoops in and takes over the performance. Some furious bowing stretches across a raga-like drone, but after about 5 minutes this decays away and leaves a quieter, twinkly drone. A few bits of feedback flare up, but the heavy part is clearly over, and so the performance floats to a close. The few faithful observers applaud enthusiastically.
