Finland’s Uton, who has put out countless releases for over ten years, has now come out with a new one in a joint effort by DNT Records and Ikuisuus.  “Echoes in the Wonderland” are eight total tracks on one LP that develop techniques of new age drone. This one is all about organic sensibilities and a tribal presence. Spiritual, but not religious. Some of the tracks have minimal dronish tendencies that really mine the earth’s core for natural energies and harness the inborn peace and tranquility of mother earth. Some of the others have a more deliberate consciousness that concentrates on indigenous rhythms and primitive instrumentation. The worry is not about creating anything grand or complex, but it’s all about the flow. Just as there is a steady beauty in the fragility and freeform movements of a stream of smoke rising into the atmosphere, so do these tracks maintain such a delicate and free spirited course. Mysterious without the creepiness. Love without the mushiness. Peace without the tie dye. Just straight up animistic minimalism that is very interesting and very calming. You can always count on this act to do it right. And you can count on Uton to package it up well too. Art is all by the artist. Kaleidoscopic vivid intensity and psychedelic euphoria vis a vis magic markers. Comes with printed insert. Limited to 300.
