Brown, “Lepidoptera” LP

By Andrew Murdock Livingston

Portland native Jeremy Long provides two sidelong drones on this LP.

It’s nice enough, but boy, oh boy, are there a lot of drone records out there.  Slow build?  Check.  Rising oscillations?  Check.  Long slow fadeouts?  Check.  It’s the sound of one giant knob being turned slowly.  Some interesting dynamics start to trickle in towards the end of side one, but I have to admit by that point I was pretty checked out.

I also think one of the sides had a manufacturing problem, as the whole first track disappeared as if there were no grooves on it?  I’m sure Jeremy Long is a talented fella, but this may not be the best piece of evidence.

huh, first ignorant review on foxyD. if you don’t like drone, or if your hangups are gonna interfere with your thoughts, then maybe you should pass it along to someone who is “passionate and willing” or move on yrself.

not sure about the comments for the first track, the record doesn’t have any defects… this may not be the best piece of evidence of your writing
