Euro 2008 - Quarter Finals

Oh man, Turkey is my new third-favorite (behind Sweden and the Netherlands)! I believed that they could score in the very last minute but I never thought they would actually do it, let alone win!

Anyway, I thought we needed a new one of these (though you can still vote in the old one too):

And of course, feel free to post your thoughts.

Geez, I'm running out of teams to root for.

First half done
my fave (Russia) normally won last night against the lucky dutch team
In fact , it isn't a surprise when you have seen the first matches of the two teams
Zenith St Petersbourg won the UEFA cup this year
Dutchs are also always great during the qualifications but always bleak when start 1/8e or 1/4 finals.... it's in history since 1990

He, Brad, never cared much for German football either. Until when Klinsmann took over and the team started to play well at least once in a while. With tens of thousands of Turkish living around here, there'll be a lot to celebrate on Wednesday no matter what happens. That first goal against Portugal was incredible, though.
I definitely hope Italy is not going to make it tonight - I guess Italy is to me what Germany is to others...

i certainly don't have the disdain for the germans that i do for the italians (hi valerio!). heh. and i was sort of rooting for them when klinsmann was at the helm (he was my first 'favorite' player and i still take to screaming "KLINSMANN!" anytime he's shown on TV). the main reason i'm against germany is that they ALWAYS WIN EVERYTHING. it's like, give someone else a chance here! hehe.

if the turks had their full starting 11, i think it'd be a much more interesting game... but with tuncay and arda turan suspended (anyone heard if nihat is fit?), it's going to be ugly.

i fully expect the spanish to implode today, but the way russia is playing, i won't be shocked at all if they win this whole thing. arshavin is going to be a rich, rich man after this tournament.

Wow, I can't believe every single one of us who voted in this poll was wrong.

But thank god Spain won. I can't deal with the constant unnecessary flinging of selves on the pitch. The next thing they need to get rid of is that ref....

it's hard at this stage not to want the russians to take it. such clever almost chess-fueled football! like the dutch with a bit less class and a bit more endeavor! can you all believe the power-outage! istanbul must have been going CRAZY! the germans cannot win! lehman is simply too much of a wanker(sorry brad!) and the fact that spain doesn't play arteta or even give him a cap is almost too much for me! do they not watch everton in spain!

this euro2008 is been soooooooo awesome! now if only andy gray could suspend his disbelief for a bit!

heh, i can't stand lehmann - i'm glad he's gone from the gunners!

i just hope cesc starts tomorrow. xavi and iniesta have been pretty mediocre.

is spain finally becoming the team everyone thought they could be for the past 10 years? or will they choke yet again? i dunno, they've been quite impressive... they've won pretty, they've won ugly, and now my boy cesc is going to start in the final. he's been so good the past two games...

should be an awesome final.

It was so sad to see the Russians just give up today. I think they could have won the whole thing if they hadn't just decided they were done after Spain's first goal.
