I dug the review... Aman Iman was on my short list for best releases of last year. everyone should pick it up (along with their previous album, Amassakoul) and not be scared off by the 'slick' production (compared to those Sublime Freq. releases at least!) I was suprised you didn't dig Matadjem Yinmixan, though! That's one of my top jams on there!

also, if you can't get enough of those Tuareg guitars, check out the new album by Tartit called 'Abacabok' Not quite on the same level as Aman Iman, but it draws on a lot of the same sounds, throw them all on a playlist and you have a killer summer afternoon of sun-sitting and beer-sipping on yr hands

haven't heard that tartit release... gonna go track that down now. thanks for the tip ged.

i can't get enough of those soundway nigerian LPs... i'm completely enthralled by the modern highlife, discofunk, and afro fuzz albums right now.
