Across a sun scorched sky, The Iron Kite spirals and dive-bombs out of control into a red tinted underworld (and I don't mean hell, but it?s close!). This Austin "free noise" trio cranks a mighty rusted carousel round and round on "No Eyebrows," writhing in the free metallic rush that builds with friction to a throbbing industrial/ Krautrock pulse. If more minimal previous releases are any indicator, nothing prepares the listener for the sheer power and forward momentum of this single track extended live recording. Acid fuzz and clattery percussion give way to metronomic thumping and back again, with tribal howls and whoops resounding overhead; all really no surprise considering the nut jobs involved (members of Tex cult free noise legends Ash Castles on the Gulf Coast, Primordial Undermind and Ethereal Planes Indian). ?No Eyebrows? is spontaneous, beautiful ROCK that sort of answers the question, "What if Red Krayola's ?Free Form Freakout? actually went somewhere?" Krautheads, No-Neckers and Dead C swimmers, rejoice! 9/10 --
