Saves the world from what? Well, from the sound of this seven-song CD, they?re saving us from whatever forces are allied against smooth jazz-rock. ?Remain Calm? follows its own instruction, a sweet and syrupy Manhattan to, say, Tortoise?s vodka-on-the-rocks. ?Roger? goes for ambient improv, but has all the edge of the band?s namesake. ?Toward? has some guitar parts that move the song along a bit better, but limp jazzish piano dilutes the effect, and the your-hot-stone-massage-is-now-over gong near the end kind of seals the deal. I give ?Xok? credit for standing out?as the best song I never heard in an episode of ?Miami Vice.? Now I?m just being cruel. But I?m sorry, this music sounds like a soggy wallet. 3/10 --
