This is a duet of sorts. Two guitarists, Bill Horist and Tanaka Yasuhiko (aka ?Marron?) explore the outer regions of harmonics and manipulated guitar tones. The result is surprisingly warm and melodic overall, despite their successful tonal experiments.
Of the ten tracks, only ?A Road Never Lonely? and sections of ?Hello Sleep Hammer? get abrasive, with the former reaching glorious heights of VERY abrasive. Most of the tunes are short, small bursts of ambient ideas or quotes from harmonic interplay between the two.
?Happyland? and ?Shizuka no Umi? are gorgeous, their brevity adding a fleeting poignancy to the ?grooves.? A great mix of experimental and charted waters, ?Sleep Hammer? ought to be the start of a great collaborative team. 7/10 --
