New Mexico duo Jessica Billey and Bud Melvin play one piece on this disc, the title of which is inspired by a 1940 Flash Gordon story. Violin, both contact miked and acoustic, and banjo are the main sound sources here, along with light splashes of percussion and some guitar. Many ideas unfold across 23 minutes and nothing overstays its welcome, with great interaction between the two players. I was much taken with a section where finger-picking banjo faces off against the big soaring sound of the violin in a sort of swimming pool acoustic. There?s another point where a pure oscillation appears which bounced around the walls of the room here in such a way that it seemed to change if I moved my listening position at all. An enjoyable piece and the very limited 3? disc is decorated with a stenciled rabbit and small stickers of bugs, so it looks good too! 7/10 --
