M. Jarvis / A. Jarvis "Jun"
The persistent string of underground hits issued by the Ruralfaune label has yet to wane, and this release from brother/sister duo Andy and Mikarla Jarvis (both of Sculptress) is but one example of the majesty that can be found in label head Bruno Parisse?s lovingly-curated catalogue. Gorgeous in every sense of the word ? including the artwork (courtesy of Dream Magazine head honcho George Parsons) and the bonus video (!!!) for lead track ?Anatomiste? ? this six-song EP is nearly flawless, encapsulating a multi-hued sound laced with a touch of exoticism.
Stringed instruments, both mysterious and conventional, waft in tangled patterns across colourful sound fields, drawing us further into the siblings? East-meets-West folk micro-verse. Their voices ? especially Mikarla?s soothing birdsong ? epitomize gentleness. This is certainly an essential release, perfect for light-hearted springtime excursions or lazy sunny day idleness. 9/10 --
