Baltimore duo Abiku released ?Left? and ?Right? a month apart, creating two albums that can stand alone or function as a massive electro-punk tour de force. Employing 80?s-era synthesizers and drum machines, along with guitar, Abiku lead you on a white-knuckle ride that ventures into industrial dance territory then swerves quickly into a sprightlier techno pop landscape. Just when your heartbeat returns to its normal rate, Abiku then hits you upside the head with a blast of grindcore fury, which launches vocalist Jane?s usual quavery monotone into a horrific screeching howl. You can rest easy though as you remove the vocal shrapnel from your ear holes while listening to the handful of spacey, ambient synthstrumentals that are scattered among the 42 tracks. The pacing is fast and the changes are quick, which some may find completely disorienting. If you?re on the fence, it may be best to just take on one of these albums. You can flip a coin in that case, as any notable differences between these albums are seemingly minute. 6/10 --
