"April Throw" is the debut release from Snapping Turtle. This CDR comes in a regular jewel case with blurry yellow and green artwork. The album consists of a dozen pieces between one and three and a half minutes in length, all of which seem to feature heavily distorted recordings of dialogue taken from radio and television broadcasts. Some of the pieces feature a bit of distortion and processing, while others seem to just surround the dialogue samples with a fuzzy ambient drone. At its best, the disc manages to coax some spooky subliminal melodies out of its source material. A lot of the time, though, it just sounds like listening to AM radio in between stations so that different broadcasts bleed in and out of each other... and then listening to that through a distortion pedal. If this release was much longer I probably couldn't listen to it all, but at only a half hour, it's fine for what it is. 6/10 --
