Fingered picked guitar run through reverb and a nice sounding amp make up Dean McPhee’s side. Water Burial was supposedly recorded in one take and latches on to a groove and pulls you in with all its underlying tones and frequencies. Water Burial makes for a very nice, quite side for a Sunday afternoon and the Chapters’ side is no different. Chapters’ “Whiteness of the Whale” is a layered drone experiment with an equally gentle guitar as McPhee’s and hypnotic satellite sounds coming in to and fro. This split comes to us by
World in Winter and calls for further investigation into the UK label. The split is a nice introduction to all parties involved and it has peaked my interest in hearing more from everyone. Mark this one down for future reference. 5/10 --
