Ultra-prolific noise/experimental artist Phroq has released dozens of recordings using a variety of random, found and accidental sounds. This particular disc was recorded using damaged blank tapes, a 1977 cassette recorder, a 1960 dynamic microphone, a 1964 dictation machine and various stereo piezo transducers, according to the back cover. The first track is entitled "Tapes : Magnetic Ghosts" and does manage to coax some scary sounds out of what would appear to be blank tapes. Most of the rest of the disc just sounds like, well, amplified blank tapes, with a few passages of noise here and there. Didn't Reynols do this already? 5/10 --
