Lovely, laid-back and haunting, this duet between vocalist and guitarist (Guerra) and multi-instrumentalist and electronics guru (Sadgrove) pairs two veterans (Guerra recording in the past for Digitalis) performing 4 tracks of stardust and lingering mist saturated with protracted, wandering melodies. While there are moments of muted call and response here, the emphasis seems to be on dissolving harmonies and sometimes calls to mind the performances of Loren Mazzacane Conners and Keiji Haino, particularly in the despondency of the guitar. Mournful yet full of grace, the strings drive this more or less ethereal affair forward slowly, in an introspective way indicative of listening as much as it ostensibly wears its emotion. “Iron Sand” is a perfect listen for either dawn or sunup, for gearing up for a day or winding one down. 7/10 --
