This one's sort of a novelty record, but it's a really well done and enjoyable one. The premise is that all the tracks are made up of chopped up samples of old discarded VHS rental tapes. If that sounds like something that could only possibly be interesting for 15 minutes, well, that's about how long this CD is.
During those 15 minutes, we basically hear something akin to Girl Talk circa "Unstoppable" except with samples of old movies instead of pop music. Being on Skam it's not hard to find a few Boards Of Canada comparisons too, partly because of some of the synth sounds that are sampled, but instead of being all "pastoral" and nostalgic, it's energetic, spazzy, and even sort of funky. But there's still a bit of the type of subliminal subversiveness that haunted BoC's works. Rewind!!! 8/10 --
