Released around the same time as Heather Leigh Murray's "Jailhouse Rock" lp, Jailhouse (the band) is HLM with drumming god Chris Corsano.
The Rocker has two side long pieces of insane pedal steel and insane drumming.
This is total freakout by two of the greats. Leigh's pedal steel creates circles of screech that seem to layer with Corsano's pounding (this time minimal, but filled with the same force we know, reminding me particularly of Rashid Ali's performance on "Interstellar Space".)
Leigh's vocals come through, sounding like they've been recorded in a box somewhere in the other room, but also with an etherial quality. With the staccato bursts, her voice sounds like a ghost chant.
This is not an easy listen, but fun as hell and a sure fire way to blow out the cobwebs in your ears and brains. And get your housemates to leave you alone. 10/10 --
