Norwegian graphic designer, musician, and Mr. D-I-Y Kim Hiorthoy blends his life's passions in his new band, Drivan, which was created during a 2007 Gunilla Heilborn project. Working on the project with Lisa Ostberg, Louise Peterhoff, and Kristiina Viiala the four continued to write and record together in a remote home and studio in the south of Sweden in 2008, resulting in recordings described as "folk-oriented and organic feel has the band drawing more from Swedish folk and prog of the 70s, as well as Stina Nordenstam’s ‘People Are Strange’ album." Sung entirely in Swedish, the songs deal with themes of co-existence of collectivity and salvation during destruction. Oddly enough, the lyrics of the opening track "Som en Laderlapp" (translation: “like a piece of leather”) takes inspiration from Meat Loaf's “Bat Out of Hell.” Mr. Meat himself may just this enjoy Swedish electro folk-pop. 7/10 --
