In a cause and effect world, Shrimp Boat is the cause of many an effect. There is some kind of familiar democracy going on here, except overrun by camels and Appalachian post-funk. A sand encrusted radio spits out the Clash and all of the lower 20 states are covered in two miles of dunes. If Shrimp Boat had reigned in an accordion player they would have been my favorite sand thrashing gypsy outfit of pseudo-Eastern pseudo-European emigrants. Aum Fidelity is mixing it up with this one; the sax work here isn?t the subterranean nyc free-jazz but a strung-out-of-key James Chancian white soul hoe-down square dance. I love it for its glee and patience and raunchy saxophone banjo disputes. 8/10 --
