Now this is the perfect antidote to that Hold Steady disc...a series of free jazz/skronk jams from a band featuring saxophonist/clarinet player Frode Gjerstad and Noxagt bassist Kjetil Braadsdal. The quartet is rounded out by Anders Hanna on guitar and Morten J. Olsen on drums. From what I can gather, the seven tracks on the disc were cot over one day last year. All the players tear loose, with Gjersrad and Brandsdal at the forefront. There's something immensely pleasing about the sound of a sqeaking squalling saxophone played over the rumbling of a downtuned distorted bass. 8/10 -- Neddal Ayad (18 July, 2005)
