Gang Wizard "Winter Tour 2003"

It?s hard to dislike anything coming out on Imvated these days, Lieven Martens? self-deprecating aesthetic and kindergarten arts & crafts (Sindre Bjerga?s Slow Collapse 3? for prez) render anything he puts out forgivable. I would say that this c-60 needs no forgiveness, as it is a slab of lovely post-everything anus. Almost totally formless guitar grind at points, and then it might just veer into a catchy intersection of snaky-limb free skronchola and shamanist harlem patter. They almost seem like they?re constantly resolving and re-negotiating their sound, falling in and out of rhythms as easy as a troupe of ADHD-inflicted brass devotionals in a scurvy march- intruding on each other?s whims with pseudo-negligence, working against the sum and treating you to the sound of an astral dismantling (something most bands save for backstage extras on the dvd).

It comes in a typically ?Lieven? photocopy on yellow paper with most of the information obscured beyond legibility, a cartoon pony/ argonaut skull-ship collage! Definitely worth owning. 8/10 -- Andrew Zukerman (25 July, 2005)
