Jon Dale runs the exquisite Rhizome imprint and also used to record under the moniker Moth. He's now pulled off that mask and is releasing stuff under his own name. The approach and feel of this recording, though, echoes his Moth past. Quiet, speculative drones find their way through the night skies on "Son D'or." The subtleties are the star on this short release that comes housed in a beautiful tin-foil package. If you've ever been out in the country, laying on the ground at night staring at the polka-dotted sky, you know how small it makes you feel. "Son D'or" does that for me. While listening to this, I get lulled into a trance and Dale's music infects my bloodstream. Singular organ notes are the driving force here, etching themselves in stone and pelting you in a sonic assault. That is just the backbone, though. Metallic scrapes and various guitar hypnotics rise and fall from this steaming nebula. They try to distract your attention from the pulsating organ glow, but they fail. You stay focused and drown in this cosmic space junk. "Son D'or" is simply a beautiful, exorcising release. 8/10 --
